Elton John wants to adopt a boy, aged 14 months, from an orphanage in Ukraine.
The British singer was visiting the country with his Aids foundation.
He performed Circle of Life for children at the orphanage. The BBC reports some were there because their parents had died of Aids.
Later, at a press conference, he said his partner David had always wnted to adopt a child, but he had been reluctant until he met the boy, called Lev.
