Dame Vera Lynn, who first topped the music charts in Britain during World War II, has become the oldest living artist to have a number one album.

We'll Meet again, the Very Best of Vera Lynn with songs from 70 years ago, has taken the number one spot in the British music charts, despite competition from the release of the entire Beatles album catalogue.

Dame Vera, who is 92, says she is extremely surprised and delighted, the BBC reports.

The Beatles, meanwhile, have four new entries in the top 10 thanks to their remastered back catalogue.
