India's top sports official has called for a revamp of the New Delhi Commonwealth Games' organising committee after widespread concerns over preparations for the event.
Indian Olympic Association (IOA) secretary-general Randhir Singh says the Games, which are just over 12 months away, have to be retrieved.
Commonwealth Games Federation president Mike Fennell has sought a meeting with the Indian prime minister to seek his help in the buildup to the Games scheduled from 3 October to 14 October next year.
Mr Singh told The Indian Express on Tuesday that immediate organisational changes are needed.
He said the many organising sub-committees needed to be run professionally.
"There are 23 committees looking into the various organisational aspects of the games but the chairmen of these committees hardly ever meet," he said.
Mr Singh said the committees, which currently have an advisory role, must be given the powers to take decisions.
