Australian prime minister Kevin Rudd says he's not prepared to delay consideration of his government's emission trading scheme.
However, the ABC reports he has conceded that a global scheme remains some way off.
Mr Rudd is scheduled to take part in the opening session of the Clinton Global Initiative in New York this week.
The forum will include discussion on climate change, world poverty and the global recession.
