An 11-hour hostage siege in Sydney has ended safely after police stormed a building where a man had been holding a girl hostage in a custody dispute.
The 52-year-old and his daughter had been in the Parramata building in since just before 9am on Tuesday.
Buildings in the city centre were evacuated after the man said he had a bomb in his backpack, the ABC reports.
The man's 12-year-old daughter was seen running from the building crying before the police raid.
Earlier, television footage showed the man topless and wearing a barrister's wig taunting police from an office window opposite the District Court building.
