A magnitude 6.6 earthquake has occurred in Japan.
The United States Geological Survey says it was east south-east of Hachinohe, off the east coast of Honshu island on Saturday.
USGS says the quake was 36km deep.
State broadcaster NHK said there were no immediate reports of damage and no tsunami warning was issued.
