American fashion and celebrity photographer Irving Penn has died in New York at the age of 92.
His stark and simple images, which were radical for their time, first came to prominence in the fashion magazine Vogue in the 1940s, the BBC reports.
Later, Irving Penn turned his lens on the famous, such as Miles Davis, Spencer Tracey and Pablo Picasso, as well as on movements such as the hippies in San Francisco.
