North Korea preparing to fire more missiles - report

3:12 pm on 13 October 2009

North Korea may be preparing to launch more short-range missiles a day after it fired a barrage of missiles, South Korea's Yonhap news agency is reporting.

The agency quoted a government source on Tuesday as saying indications of additional launches are coming from the western part of the Korean peninsula.

The launches come as the reclusive communist state has signalled to the outside world that it might return to talks on ending its nuclear arms programme and made overtures to South Korea for working-level dialogue, Reuters reports.

Indications of the additional launches are coming from the western part of the Korean peninsula, Yonhap quoted the government source as saying.

North Korea has issued a warning for vessels to stay out of waters off its coasts, according to Japan's coastguard.
