Resignation submitted by Pakistan cricket captain over query into match results

Pakistan cricket captain Younis Khan has tendered his resignation in protest against a meeting called to investigate the team's defeats by Australia and New Zealand at the recent Champions Trophy in South Africa.

Younis, 31, says he's appalled and disappointed after being summoned - and then cleared - by the Pakistan National Assembly's committee on sports over suggestions of match fixing.

A loss by one wicket to Australia in a group match last month and a defeat by New Zealand in the semi-final earlier this month sparked accusations from a lawmaker that the matches were thrown.
