7:05 am on 21 October 2009

There have been two bomb blasts in Pakistan at the International Islamic University in the capital Islamabad, which is attended by students from all over the world.

The BBC reports at least six people including two suicide bombers were killed and 18 others were wounded.

The Taliban has claimed it was behind the bombings. In a telephone call to the BBC, a senior commander said the organisation now considered all of Pakistan to now be a war zone.

The attack was the first since the army began an offensive in South Waziristan, in the north-west of Pakistan.

There was a series of bombings by Taliban and al-Qaeda in the days before the assault began.
