Death of Lockerbie bomber denied

Lockerbie bomber Abdel Basset al-Megrahi's lawyer says reports that his client has died are incorrect.

It was reported on Wednesday that Megrahi, a Libyan agent convicted of the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 in which 270 people were killed in 1988, had died.

Megrahi, who is terminally ill with prostate cancer, was released on compassionate grounds in August.

The decision angered the United States government and relatives of the 189 Americans killed when the plane exploded over Lockerbie.
