The United Nations says high food prices are likely to increase, leading to more food insecurity around the world.
In an annual report, three UN food agencies warn that small import-dependent countries, particularly in Africa, are especially at risk.
They say price rises are challenging efforts to achieve a millennium development goal of halving the number of hungry people by 2015.
