Further delay in crisis talks

7:03 am on 26 October 2011

There has been another delay in the eurozone's plans to announce a final rescue deal to try to end the turmoil in the euro area.

The Polish presidency of the EU has confirmed that key meetings in Brussels have been postponed.

EU finance ministers and the Eurogroup of 17-nations will not now meet on Tuesday as planned, although a full emergency heads-of-government summit will go ahead.

The hitch could stall agreement about how to enlarge the European financial stability facility rescue fund and secure larger write-offs of Greek debt, although there is no confirmation of this.
