A local official in Niger says the only son of the former Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi, who is still unaccounted for has been seen near the border with Libya.
The official says Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court, is being assisted by Tuaregs, the BBC reports.
It is understood his brother, Saadi Gaddafi, sought refuge last month in Niger.
The government there has said members of the former Libyan regime will not be returned to Libya without guarantees for their safety.
