Severe flooding has hit several parts of Italy killing at least five people with another eight missing.
The worst affected areas are the northern provinces of Tuscany, Spezia and Liguria, where up to 500mm of rain fell in just a few hours early on Wednesday.
Deutsche Welle Radio reports many towns in the coastal regions of Liguria and Tuscany are still cut off due to inundated roads and bridges.
Five days earlier, Rome was paralysed by a storm that flooded the city, halting public transport.
The ABC reports the capital appears to have escaped the worst of the latest rain.
