Quake shakes buildings in Peru

A magnitude 6.9 earthquake has occurred off the coast of southern Peru, shaking buildings in the capital Lima. There are no immediate reports of major damages or injuries.

The US Geological Survey says it was initially reported as magnitude 7.0, centered 50km south of Ica.

The coastal city is near where a magnitude 8.0 earthquake killed more than 500 people in 2007.

No tsunami warning has been issued.
