Steve Williams sorry for racial slur about Tiger

New Zealand golf caddie Steve Williams has apologised for making a racially-charged remark about his former employer, Tiger Woods.

Williams stunned guests at an awards ceremony in Shanghai with his comments but he has now apologised in a statement on his website.

He says he now realises how his comments could be construed as racist, that wasn't his intent and he sincerely apologises to Woods and anyone else he has offended.

Williams had been a regular caddie for Woods since 1999 and helped the American to 13 majors before being fired in July.
