Central Bangkok flooding risk now only minor - PM

6:33 am on 6 November 2011

Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra says there is now only a minor risk of flooding in the centre of the capital, Bangkok.

She says flood barriers and drainage systems will keep the CBD mostly dry.

Thailand's worst monsoons floods in decades has swamped at least 20% of the capital, with water moving towards the sea from floods further north.

Millions have had their homes damaged or livelihoods affected and 446 people have been killed.
