International travellers will find flying easier from 2013 with the removal of restrictions on carrying liquids on board aircraft.

New detection technology that can identify explosive subtances in liquids will mean passengers will no longer have water bottles, toiletries or duty free items confiscated as they board aircraft.

The ABC reports the technology has been successfuly trialled in Sydney and Melbourne, in collaboration with authorities in Britain and the United States.

Federal Transport Minister Anthony Albanese says the move is aimed at minimising disruptions and delays for passengers.
