A boat believed to be carrying 53 suspected asylum seekers has been intercepted near Christmas Island.
An Australian patrol boat intercepted the suspected illegal entry vessel on Wednesday night.
It is the 53rd boat to be intercepted this year.
Canberra says the group will be transferred to Christmas Island where they will undergo security, identity and health checks.
