Australian journalist denied entry to Fiji for wedding

An Australian journalist intending to marry in Fiji has been refused entry upon arrival as a tourist more than two years after he worked in Fiji.

Steve McCully, a former editorial manager with the Fiji Times, had intended to wed last Saturday.

Mr McCully flew into Nadi airport, only to be prohibited from entering by immigration officials who checked him on to a flight back to Brisbane later that night.

He says the move by Fiji's interim regime has wasted the considerable time and money spent by his fiancee's family on organising a traditional Fijian wedding.
