Motorway pile-up

11:02 am on 6 December 2011

There was an expensive pile-up on a motorway in Japan on Sunday.

Police say a convoy of eight Ferraris, two Mercedes Benz and a Lamborghini were involved.

The ABC reports they crashed into each other when the lead car hit a central barrier in the prefecture of Yamaguchi.

No-one was seriously hurt, but the road was closed for six hours afterwards.

The damaged cars are worth at least 300 million yen ($US3.85 million) in total.

The Asahi Shimbun reports the drivers were on an outing to Hiroshima and were driving in convoy.
