Scientists and conservationists from around the Pacific have listed their concerns about climate change and its effect on biodiversity in a special edition of Pacific Conservation Biology, a scientific journal.

They say Australasian habitats and species are at risk as temperatures rise and weather patterns change.

Professor Richard Kingsford says governments and conservation groups need to start making practical decisions to ensure the survival of species.

These include planning for the drying of wetlands and linking national parks to provide corridors for animals to travel through as their environment changes.
