A man arrested after a riot in September in Guangdong province, China, has died in custody.
In an online announcement, the municipal government of Shanwei said that Xue Jinbo became unwell on Sunday and was taken to hospital, where he died from cardiac failure.
The statement said forensic experts had been invited to conduct independent investigations.
The initial riot broke out on 21 September in the village of Wukan. Mr Xue was arrested last week in the city of Lufeng.
The BBC reports villagers accuse corrupt officials of stealing land for development.
