Prison sentence for killing kitten

11:02 am on 15 December 2011

A woman who killed a kitten in a microwave in Britain, has been sentenced to prison for nearly six months.

Magistrates in Torquay told Gina Robins, 31, her offending was so serious that only a custodial sentence was appropriate.

Robins put the kitten in the microwave to revenge herself on a friend who had reported an incident to the police involving her partner.

She told the court the kitten must have walked into the microwave oven and some of the other cats shut the oven door, which automatically started the device.

Robins was also disqualified from keeping animals for 10 years.
