More than $A6.5 million in stolen cash and property have been seized by police in Sydney at a storage unit in the suburb of Waterloo.

Detectives found $A2 million in cash plus foreign currency and 120kg of silver bullion on Wednesday afternoon.

The ABC reports gold and silver jewellery, precious stones, antiques, heirlooms, fake identification and five guns were also discovered.

Police believe the items were from burglaries of homes on Sydney's north shore and a break-in at a storage site in Melbourne.

Acting Assistant NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said the 120kg of silver bullion may have been from stolen jewellery that had melted down.

Two men were arrested at a boarding house in Randwick on 19 December. They have been extradited to Victoria
