Qantas A380 grounded by cracks

12:03 pm on 8 February 2012

A Qantas A380 has been grounded after cracks were found on its wings.

The airline says routine checks revealed minor cracking, but says they are not specific to Qantas. It blames the manufacturer, Airbus.

Qantas says the plane is expected to be back in the air in a week.

A spokeswoman says the cracks are different to those found recently on other A380s, which are now the subject of a airworthiness probe in Europe.
