Ministers quit after watching porn in parliament

Updated at 6:30 am on 9 February 2012

Three state politicians in India have resigned after being caught watching pornography on a mobile phone during a session of state parliament.

News channels broadcast footage showing two ministers in Karnataka state, sharing a porn clip on a phone belonging to a third politician.

The three men deny they were deliberately looking at porn, but say they don't want to cause embarrassment to their party. One was the women's affairs minister.

They are members of the Bharatiya Janata Party, which rules the state and is in opposition at a national level.

There has been outrage over the incident from Hindu groups as well as the ruling Congress party.
