Beth Orton charmed many listeners with her subtle blend of folk and electronica as she emerged, almost accidentally, from London's heaving early '90s dance scene. With her songwriting instincts intact Orton's sound has gradually shed the drum machines and synths. On her sixth album Sugaring Season many of the numbers were recorded live with long-time guitarist Ted Barnes and backing vocalist Sam Amidon beside her in the studio. Beth Orton tells Nick Atkinson about a couple of her favourite tunes from her new record, beginning with a country number named Call Me The Breeze.
