Assistant Police Commissioner on perjury investigation

From News Extras

A criminal investigation is underway into police officers who knowingly gave false evidence in court about a confrontation in which they tasered a Timaru man. That's been sparked by an Independent Police Conduct Authority finding out today - though in an internal investigation last year the police found they had acted unlawfully, but took no further action. The IPCA has also found it was disproportionate for the officers to taser Troy Rueben in his home. The police have apologised to Mr Reuben and his family, and begun criminal and employment investigations.
