Slow Cooker Tamarillo Beef Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef chuck or blade steak, trimmed of fat and cut into small chunks
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 x 400gm tin of crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 onion, thinly chopped
  • 2 peeled and sliced carrots
  • 1 cup chopped portobello or whole button mushrooms
  • ½ red capsicum, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • ½ cup tomato sauce
  • 3 tamarillos, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun spice
  • Salt and pepper

Method

Place all ingredients into a slow cooker. Cook on low for 6 hours or until beef is tender. Thicken with cornflour if desired.
