David Somerset and Dick Weir worked together from 1979 until 2010 on a variety of radio and storytelling projects for children. David passed away in 2014.
‘In my work broadcasting to children, I learned from David to speak to an individual child, not to a crowd, I learned not to speak down, not to condescend but to allow space for the child to reach up. David taught me about narrative tension, inhabiting the story, nuance, variation, about not relying on the bells and whistles of over-production ... He gave proof to the Confucian axiom about the teacher teaching best, who remains as student.’ - Dick Weir
