During his six years resident in NZ, the British-born conductor John Hopkins made an enormous contribution to the music scene here. Even after moving to Australia in the 1960s he maintained close links with the NZSO, APO, Cambridge Music School and National Youth Orchestra. On the occasion of his 80th birthday, John Hopkins talked with Roger Smith.
