In this Chamber Music New Zealand presentation with the Eggner Trio, we’re treated to a Viennese take on New Zealand music with Anthony Ritchie’s Oppositions. Also on the programme, Mozart’s Piano Quartet in G minor K478 and Beethoven’s Piano Trio in D Opus 70 No 1 ‘Ghost’ – nicknamed in 1842, when Beethoven’s pupil Czerny commented that the music reminded him of the ghost in Hamlet.

On this visit they brought with them a friend. Amihai is Principal Viola of the Berlin Philharmonic and one of the founding members of the Jerusalem String Quartet. Together they came from triumphant performances which included the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Wigmore Hall in London.

This concert was recorded in Wellington’s Michael Fowler Centre by Radio New Zealand
