A Tribute to Something Else

From New Horizons, 5:00 pm on 16 April 2017

Fifty years ago, a couple of months after Sgt Pepper appeared, the Kinks released Something Else by The Kinks.

It kind of got pushed to the side in the hoopla that followed the Beatles' revolutionary release. But Mojo Magazine has jumped the gun on the inevitable deluge of Pepper tributes later this year by paying tribute to the Kinks' fifth studio album in its March 2017 issue. The giveaway CD has contemporary artists doing covers of the original 13 tracks.

William darts ;) back and forth from original to tribute and explores the other music of some of the artists, including Scottish band Modern Studies, English songwriter Declan McKenna, and the Americans Chuck Prophet and Max Jury.
