'Unplugged' albums have always amused and bemused William Dart - especially when the band in question made their name with music that might have had some reaching for earplugs. Nirvana is sampled as an example.

But equally, what does it mean when an artist whose roots are in the folk tradition strips back?

Richard Thompson's new and second collection of Acoustic Classics travels through almost half-a-century of his songs, going back to early days with Fairport Convention. And the songs included are some of his most personal and heart-wrenching.
