7:07 - John Psathas at work

Artsville (TV1, Sunday night) profiled Wellington composer John Psathas on the weekend just gone (not available on-demand). Included was footage from Little Bushman live in concert with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, with John's orchestral arrangements.

According to his Twitter feed, John's just been hard at work on another collaboration with Warren Maxwell (Little Bushman frontman). The result will be APO Amped!, a concert with the Auckland Phiharmonia Orchestra in May.

Tonight is Burns Night, marking the birth of Robert Burns in 1759 in Ayrshire, Scotland. In his short life (he died at the age of only 37), he established himself as Scotland's national poet. Here are two Burns-inspired works by Scottish composers.
