7:01 - SOUNZtender: The Concert
In 2009, SOUNZ - The Centre for New Zealand Music approached the five most recent winners of the SOUNZ Contemporary Award to participate in a fundraising project. SOUNZ auctioned the rights to commission a piece of music from these composers, with bids starting at $5000. The winning bidders had the right to specify the instrumentation for the resulting pieces. In May last year, a concert was held premièring all five works.
