1pm Brilliant Bernstein’s Candide

New Zealand Opera’s production of Bernstein’s Candide opens this week at the Auckland Arts Festival. Leading man James Benjamin Rodgers and conductor Wyn Davies joined David Morriss to talk about Bernstein, how to unveil the heart of a character in an opera production and why Candide has become one of Bernstein’s most enduring works.

Peter Mechen has been busy catching some of the final New Zealand Festival performances. He gives us his views on mezzo soprano Anne-Sophie von Otter singing Schubert with the NZSO and the piano duo Anderson & Roe. Someone needs a cup of tea and a lie down after that!
