The Timaru District Choir is performing in Timaru and Geraldine over the weekend, and the programme includes not one, but two new commissions.

The choir commissioned local writer Jan Hill and young local composer, Logan Keggenhoff, to write a Christmas carol with a South Canterbury flavour for choir and quintet, From Bay to Hill.
Jan Hill has written a popular series of children’s books about Maungati Mouse – included in the concerts is another new work based on the Christmas story Magnus and Maungati’s Christmas.
David Morriss caught up with the choir’s conductor Margaret van Ginkel and composer Logan Keggenhoff.
