Rae was a founding member of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, and was the Principal 2nd Violin for 26 years before becoming Principal Emeritus 2nd Violin in 2006, a position she still holds today.

She's also been on the administration side of the APO, being part of the Artistic Committee and was a member of the Audition Panel.

She's also well-known to many young violinists, having mentored and taught a number of emerging musicians, many of who have gone on to perform with leading orchestras both in New Zealand and overseas.

She talks to David Morriss about her career and being recognised for her services as a violinist
