Solomon islands PM to attend Pacific Island leaders meeting with French president

Solomon Islands prime minister, Sir Allen Kemakeza, has accepted an invitation to meet French President, Jaques Chirac in French Polynesia in july.

Our Honiara correspondent, George Atkin, reports.

"The invitation from the President of French Polynesia, Gaston Flosse, was brought to Honiara by his deputy, Edouard Frigch, when he paid a two-day visit to Solomon Islands. Sir Allen will be accompanied by three officials. The Tahiti meeting on July 7th and 8th will be attended by Pacific Island government leaders. The office of the Prime Minister says Mr Chirac wants to meet the leaders to hold individual discussions on issues of mutual interest."
