SPREP distances itself from Greenpeace

The South Pacific Regional Environment Programme says it will have nothing more to do with Greenpeace following a controversy over a display at a conference in Fiji.

The head of SPREP, Tanari'i Tutangata, has taken issue with the banners, words and actions of Greenpeace directed against Australian policies.

He has accused Greenpeace of attention-grabbing tactics and says he should have known better than to accept the request by Greenpeace Fiji to share in the event.

The meeting had the theme "Investing in Adaptation" and was organised by SPREP and the World Bank.
