Papua New Guinea's Forest Industries Association says it has been raising concerns about the controversial logging company Concord Pacific since the 1990s.
The Executive Director, Robert Tate says since the association had tried to shutdown the operations of the Malaysian based company in the Western province but with no result.
The Prime Minister promised that the government would close the project.
Last week, the attorney general failed to attend a court sitting to close down the company's Kiunga-Aimbak logging project leaving the case adjourned indefinitely.
Mr Tate says the Concord Pacific issue has created a negative image of the PNG timber industry and should be resolved quickly.
"we believe it is time that people stopped using the aberration of Concord Pacific to denigrate the whole industry which is comprised of very many genuine, legal and fairly competent operators. The smearing of the whole industry for political purposes is not progressing any rational debate on forestry management issues"
