American Samoa is to be given a 187 thousand US dollar grant by the United States Department of Justice to enhance its ability to respond to terrorist activities.
The grant is to the Territorial Emergency Management co-ordinating Office for the purchase of specialized equipment for the agencies that would the first to respond to an attack.
These include law enforcement, fire and medical services, and hazardous materials response units.
