Fiji has been hit by more industrial strife with about 150 employees of the National Provident Fund walking off their jobs late yesterday, saying they were fed up of the management.
The Fiji Times quotes the general secretary of the Bank and Finance Sector Employees Union, Diwan Shankar, as saying the management has continued to make false promises on the terms of reference for a job evaluation.
Mr Shankar says it was only when union members walked out yesterday that the Provident Fund management started working on a draft agreement.
The action follows a unanimous strike vote by members last weekend.
Meanwhile, a strike by 400 employees of the national airline, Air Pacific, is continuing with no end in sight.
After saying last week that the government would intervene, ministers have been distancing themselves from the strike.
