The president of the Papua New Guinea Chamber of Commerce says that the prolonged elections and the wait for the formation of a new government has stalled the economy.

Michael Mayberry says the election upheavel has left the business community facing uncertainty and he hopes the government is formed soon.

Mr Mayberry says that until a new government is officially announced, businesses are in a holding pattern, waiting for stability.

"Everybody's just all waiting around to sort of see what emergers and to sort of get some feel of what direction the Government is going to take and,you know, that's not helpful for the economy at all."
