The main dock in American Samoa was closed for almost three hours this morning after workers and government personnel were evacuated due to an ammonia leak.

Police say the leak came from a pipe in the freezer section of the fishing boat MV Diana, which was docked in Pago Pago Harbour.

Two people suspected of inhaling ammonia, were taken to the hospital where they were admitted for observation.

Fire chief Tagiilima Moana says that it was a faulty pipe which caused the leak.
