A new scam has surfaced in Fiji's agriculture ministry following the recent 13 million US dollar farming assistance swindle.
Fiji TV says the new scam has been confirmed by the Public Service Commission
It says the scam centres in the ministry's land resettlement unit and involves money which was supposed to help resettle farmers displaced by expiring leases.
The PSC says the scam is serious but it does not yet know whether the amount is in the hundreds of thousands or millions.
An audit is underway into the scam which is reported to have begun just after the interim administration came to power in the wake of the May 2000 coup.
