Indonesia opens embassy in Suva

Indonesia is to open an embassy in Suva today to boost trade and economic relations with Fiji and other South Pacific countries.

Indonesia's vice foreign minister, Dr Makarim Wibisono, who is in Fiji for the post-Forum dialogue, says apart from food products that Fiji imports from Indonesia, they hope to provide training and technical assistance.

Until now, Indonesia's affairs in Fiji have been handled by its embassy in Wellington
